Vatanen’s co-driver

Terry Harryman (26 September 1938 – 21 September 2026) partnered Ari Vatanen at Ford, Rothmans Opel and Peugeot. Their six wins together:

He also sat beside Tony Pond for fourth on the 1982 Safari in a Nissan. Harryman was with Vatanen when their 205 crashed heavily on the 1985 Rally Argentina; Vatanen was seriously injured and did not return to world championship rallying until 1987.

Later titles

In 1986 he won the German championship with Michèle Mouton in a 205 Turbo 16, and in 1988 the Irish Tarmac championship with Mark Lovell. He was inducted into the Ards and North Down Hall of Fame in 2024.

Statistics on this page cover world championship rallies from January 1982 to December 1986, excluding the annulled 1986 Rallye Sanremo, and are counted from the entry lists and results in Jonkka’s World Rally Archive. ‘Starts’ means appearances on an entry list.

European and national championships
