From driver to co-driver

Fabrizia Pons was born in Turin on 26 June 1955. She began as a driver and scored world championship points by finishing ninth on the 1978 Rallye Sanremo, which makes her one of only two people to have scored points both as a driver and as a co-driver.

With Mouton at Audi

Pons joined Michèle Mouton at Audi Sport. Their first win came on the 1981 Rallye Sanremo; in 1982 they won in Portugal, on the Acropolis and in Brazil, and fought Walter Röhrl for the title until Mouton crashed out on the Ivory Coast. They finished second on the 1982 RAC Rally and stayed on the podium regularly in 1983 and 1984. Pons received the Halda Trophy for 1982, the highest award for a co-driver.

Mouton’s co-driver: three wins in 1982, and the Halda Trophy.

Later career

Pons remained active as a co-driver at the top level of rallying for decades.
